Washington, D.C., May 15, 2019--It’s hardly surprising that two topics dominated Satellite 2019 in Washington this year, were: the low earth orbit (LEO) constellations, and 5G.  Topics that are constantly in the news, and are in fact related.  Although many of the applications do not require it, low latency is one of the specifications of the 5G standard; therefore many operators feel that the LEO constellations are necessary for the satellite industry to be fully integrated into 5G.

Geneva, Switzerland, April 16, 2019 — The Ministerial Round Table at 10th World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum, held from  April 8-12, 2019, emphasized the importance of the WSIS Action Lines – on which many national digital agendas were built – as a key United Nations framework for progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Round T​​able participants also highlighted the need for sharing of ​​scarce resources, as well as stre​ngthening collaboration to build confidence and security in the use of technology for good and digital skills so more people can benefit.
