In-Flight Broadband Investment to Reach US$ 500 million by 2013

Scottsdale, Ariz. August 2, 2010--In flight broadband investment should approach half a billion dollars by 2013, according to a report by In-Stat. The commitment that airlines are making to providing in-flight broadband has been remarkable. Total in-flight broadband equipment investment should approach half a billion dollars globally by 2013, reports In-Stat. In-flight Wi-Fi deployments have moved past the trial stage and are approaching critical mass with 2,000 airplanes to be deployed by the end of 2010.

Global Broadband Subs to Reach One Billion by 2015

Boston, MA, July 27, 2010 –The total number of broadband subscriptions worldwide will reach one billion by 2015, according to a report just published by analyst firm Strategy Analytics. The Asia Pacific region—which today claims almost 45% of all broadband subscriptions—will lead in subscriber growth, seeing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 18% in the next five years.

MRG Reports Global IPTV Service Revenues to Reach US$46 Billion by 2014

San Jose, CA, July 15,2010—The Multimedia Research Group, Inc. (MRG) announced that its updated report on global annual growth shows IPTV subscribers will reach 102 million in 2014, a 25% CAGR. Despite economic hardship in some countries, robust Broadband and IPTV investments have been driving growth as a means to meet and outperform Cable and Satellite competition. IPTV Operators are using Fiber in high-competition markets and advanced DSL such as channel bonding and VDSL2 in other (less competitive) markets. As a result, Telcos have been discreetly improving their IPTV bandwidth capacity to sub-markets that need upgrades without overspending in markets that don’t require immediate upgrading.

World Teleport Association Publishes 2010 Edition of Sizing the Teleport Market Study

New York City, July 6, 2010 – The World Teleport Association (WTA) published the highly anticipated update to its Sizing the Teleport Market study.  Published every three years, the 2010 edition of this pioneering study reveals that since its first publication in 2004 the global teleport sector has seen commercial revenue growth of 50% (7% compound annual growth rate) while the number of teleports operated by commercial and broadcast companies has increased 20% to nearly 1,740. In the past three years, total commercial revenues grew 28%, while the total number of facilities operated by commercial and broadcast companies declined by 2%.

Internet Traffic to Grow Fourfolds by 2014-Cisco

SAN JOSE, Calif. - June 16, 2010 - Cisco announced the results of the annual Cisco® Visual Networking Index (VNI) Forecast, 2009-2014, which projects that global Internet traffic will increase more than fourfold to 767 exabytes, or more than 3/4 of a Zettabyte, by 2014.  This amount is 100 exabytes higher than the projected level in 2013, or an increase the equivalent of 10 times all the traffic traversing Internet Protocol networks in 2008.

Pay TV Revenues Will Grow 7% to US$ 312 Mil. in 2010

New York, NY, May 21, 2010--The Pay TV market growth slowed in 2009 due to the recession. However, 2010 is expected to be a better year as operators have been signing up new subscribers, and existing subscribers are migrating to premium channels and advanced services. "As a result of the positive market outlook for pay TV," says ABI Research practice director Jason Blackwell, "global pay TV revenue will net more than $312 billion for cable and telecom carriers in 2010."

Los Angeles, Calif., May 10, 2010--With over one hundred million households, the United States is currently the largest market in the world for broadband services. About sixty percent, or 60 million households currently access broadband services from various sources, mainly terrestrial. Satellite broadband service reach only one million households, or less than 2 percent of broadband households in the U.S. Clearly, there is a lot more room to expand satellite broadband services in the U.S. market and major operators such as Hughes and Viasat are determined to develop the market to its full potential.
