London, UK, November 2, 2018--In my previous column I referenced the GVF’s contribution to the forthcoming International Telecommunication Union’s World Radiocommunication Seminar 2018 (WRS2018), December 3rd to 7th, which will take the form of a pre-Seminar Workshop Symposium, November 29th to 30th, focused on capacity building amongst the world’s regulators. A number of organizations will be supporting and contributing to the Workshop Symposium, including (at the time of writing) Hughes and SES, together with other GVF members currently finalizing their inputs.

London, UK, Nov. 1, 2018 — The annual AfricaCom Awards shortlist was released today. With an overwhelming number of excellent entries, the selection process has been even more challenging than previous years.

London, UK, , Nov. 1, 2018 — The latest program in the GVF-EMP Partnership portfolio, the HTS Roundtable 2018 - GEOs… MEOs… LEOs: Enabling a Brave New World, has been released. The program, which will offer an in-depth exploration of the drivers and trends behind the continuing massive growth potential in the market for satellite-based broadband solutions, and which is supported by – Comtech EF Data, Hughes, and Newtec – and Guest Sponsors – SES Networks, C-COM Satellite Systems and Integrasys – will take place at London’s Strand Palace Hotel on 4th December 2018, the day following the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) Better Satellite World Awards dinner.

 Isle of Man, Oct. 9, 2018 – The Satellite Interference Reduction Group today announced it is expanding its reach to encompass all types of innovation within the satellite communications industry. As part of that expansion, it has changed its name to Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG). SIG was officially launched today during Satellite Technology Asia in Singapore. The event is being co-hosted with Intelligence-Sec.

London, UK, October 3, 2018--The fourth quarter 2018 calendar features two of GVF’s regular major events – one in Washington DC in October presented in partnership with COMSYS, the other in London at the beginning of December, part of the GVF-EMP portfolio – and in November we have another of the association’s important innovations, a Workshop Symposium collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union.

Paris, France, September 19, 2018 — Consulting firm Euroconsult announced the recipients of both its Annual Awards for Excellence in Connectivity and Satellite Communications as well as Earth Observation and Information on the occasion of the World Satellite Business Week, its annual senior executive event, of which the 22nd edition took place in Paris from Sept. 10 to 14. These annual awards recognize companies and their management for their outstanding accomplishments. Winners are chosen by a panel of industry experts who assess candidates using rigorous qualitative (innovation, strategic decisions, impact) and quantitative (financial performance indicators, such as EBITDA or revenue growth or size/nature of a commercial agreement) criteria.
