The 4th Annual Hosted Payload Summit Expands Conference Program to Include Small Satellites

Rockville, Md., May 12, 2014 – Hosted payloads and small satellites share a common mission – to enable greater access to space for an ever-expanding variety of commercial, government and scientific customers. In an effort to include everyone in the conversation of future-changing technology, the producers of the SATELLITE Conference and Exhibition expanded and revamped the program of its annual Hosted Payload Summit, which will now be called the Hosted Payload and Smallsat Summit. This industry-leading event will be held October 15, 2014 at the Grand Hyatt Washington, located at 1000 H Street NW, Washington, D.C.

The newly expanded Summit program features in-depth technological forums, keynote presentations from the top decision-makers and innovative minds in the aerospace community, and a brand new extensive tutorial session, Hosted Payload and Smallsats 101 – An Essential Guide to the Technology that will be held at 7:30 a.m. on October 15. This session is advantageous to both new and seasoned industry professionals who will develop a greater understanding of the information and terminology needed to get the most out of the Summit. An individual ticket to this extensive tutorial is available at $75 for Summit registrants and $50 for active government/military personnel and includes breakfast during the program. Tickets can be purchased through online registration at www.HostedPayloadSmallsatSummit.com.

The program also includes fresh content designed for all levels of government, commercial and scientific interest in exploring the benefits of hosted payload and small satellite technology. New sessions focus on key issues such as political challenges, the U.S. Air Force’s Hosted Payload Solutions (HoPS) contract vehicle services, additional return-on-investment benefits beyond low-cost access to space, industry partnership with the academic and scientific community and options for the launch services market.

“In developing the Summit program, we wanted to build on the new level of excitement that’s generating around this technology,” said Jeffrey Hill, Conference Manager of the Hosted Payload and Smallsat Summit. “Hosted payloads and small satellites were once thought of as an alternative, low-cost means to meet a very specific set of needs. Now, they’re making headlines in top media outlets and being recognized by governments, enterprises and academic institutions as the key to accessing invaluable data intelligence and research. We revamped the Hosted Payload and Smallsat Summit to not only further the discussion, but to also bring new voices into the discussion and create a fun, educational environment that explores the full potential of space.”
