Point Topic Predicts 940 million Fixed Broadband Subscribers Globally by end-2018

London, UK,  June 3, 2013--Point Topic has published its latest set of 5-year worldwide broadband subscriber number forecasts. It predicts there will be 940 million fixed broadband subscribers across the globe by the end of 2018.

The forecasts report is free to access for anyone who registers on the Point Topic site.

The report uses data from Point Topic’s Global Broadband Statistics service which has tracked the growth of broadband at operator, country and technology level since 1998. Subscribers can access the complete set of country-level forecasts at half-yearly intervals up to December 2018. 

The 940 million figure  is lower than Point Topic's  previous estimates as the developing world fails to catch up on fixed internet penetration, although it  still expects that the 1 billion subscriber mark will be exceeded within this century.
