Singapore, June 14, 2022 — Kacific Broadband Satellites Group, along with local partners Indonesia (BIGNET) and PT Primacom Interbuana (PRIMACOM), has completed the deployment of over 2,500 sites, in a record five-month timeframe, to provide satellite internet access to government infrastructure in remote areas of Indonesia. This project is led by the nation’s Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency BAKTI using funds from the Universal Service Obligation.  

Erpe-Mere, Belgium June 14, 2022 –The spaceflight industry planted a new flag in Belgium today as ST Engineering iDirect announced that it will be manufacturing components used in flight systems for spacecraft to European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) standards at its Manufacturing Competence Center (MCC) in Erpe-Mere, Belgium.

Satellite services being rolled out at more than 2,000 remote schools in the Philippines will use the iDirect Evolution Hub, iQ Desktop modems, gateway antenna and HPA (High Power Amplifier). Global satellite operator SES will provide Ku-band capacity via the SES-9 satellite.

Sometimes this comes from within, from well-established companies, and sometimes it comes from totally outside the industry, as Elon Musk did twenty years ago when he founded SpaceX. So, I decided to focus on new entrants, but this still left very many interesting companies to choose from. In the end, I decided to limit myself to companies trying to solve a known problem, then rather arbitrarily selected four companies.
