The 2nd quarter 2014 showed about a 5% growth in set-top box revenues from a key set of major OEMs according to ABI Research. Most manufacturers saw similar sales, with ARRIS a clear winner, growing about 60% year-over-year to US$ 711 million (pro-forma based on the combined ARRIS-Motorola from the start of 2013). Cisco, however, was a clear loser, falling 30% to US$ 332 million, while Humax saw substantial revenue growth of 30%.
ViaSat Inc., announced its fiscal year 2015 first quarter financial results, which included revenues of US$ 319.5 million and a new Adjusted EBITDA record of US$ 60.2 million, up 14% from US$ 52.7 million recorded in the same period last year.
For the second quarter of 2014, Machine-to-Machine communications provider ORBCOMM reported total revenues were up 30.9% year-over-year to US$ 24.3 million. Service Revenues were up 10.2% to US$ 14.9 million over the prior year. Second quarter 2014 Product Sales of US$ 9.4 million were 86.4% higher than prior year.
Adjusted EBITDA for the second quarter of 2014 was US$ 5.1 million and was up 23.8% over the prior year period. ORBCOMM’s basic EPS is $0.03 for the second quarter of 2014 compared to $0.04 for the comparable period last year.
