CASBAA’s highly anticipated annual multichannel TV industry convention will take place from October 27-30, 2014 at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. A popular stop on the Asia Pacific broadcasting calendar, this year’s event will explore the theme “Beyond the Box.”

Reflecting the evolution of the television industry, this year’s CASBAA Convention theme looks at what the future holds for broadcasting – while never losing sight of the core business of linear TV.

Spanish satellite telecommunications operator HISPASAT has chosen Space Systems/Loral (SSL) to buil Hispasat 1F satellite, to be located at orbital position 30º West.  Hispasat 1F will serve as a replacement for the Hispasat 1D and will give the group additional Ku band capacity, in the Andean region and in Brazil.

Mojave, Calif., July 1, 2014

XCOR Aerospace announced today that it has closed the acquisition of all operational subsidiaries of Space Expedition Corporation, the previously independent Dutch company also known as SXC.

SXC served as XCOR's general sales agent for XCOR Lynx flight sales and as their lead wet lease customer. The new sales entity, XCOR Space Expeditions, will continue to focus on sales, commercial partnerships and participant (customer) training on a global level, and will serve as an open sales channel available for all future XCOR Lynx wet lease clients.

Boeing has acquired Ventura Solutions Inc., a hardware and software engineering company that provides custom solutions for government customers.

The latest in a series of acquisitions that enhance Boeing’s information and security capabilities, Ventura Solutions is now part of Boeing Network & Space Systems.

Ventura Solutions is based in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, and has approximately 140 employees.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

HISPASAT, the Spanish satellite communications operator, held their Shareholder’s Annual Meeting,where the annual accounts for the 2013 tax year were unanimously approved. The Group has continued to grow, despite the adverse economic climate, and has earned a net profit of 54.3 million euros, 5.5% more than it reached in 2012.

Newtec announced today at CommunicAsia 2014 that satellite operator Thaicom has installed Newtec technology (M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulators) on the platform of Thaicom-6, enabling its satellite to provide TV Broadcasting services in both C-band and Ku-band to serve customers with the best value and viewing experience.

Nonthaburi, Thailand, June 18, 2014

Thaicom, Thailand's leading satellite operator, has become the first in the Asia Pacific region to introduce commercial In-Flight Connectivity Services using Ku-band to provide broadband on commercial flights. The deal has been agreed with Thailand's number one premium low cost airline Nok Air, which last year transported nearly six million passengers. With 48,000 flights per year the carrier will provide broadband Wi-Fi services on many of its aircraft starting in August - ranging from Internet access to other complimentary services in the future.

SpeedCast, today announced the acquisition of Oceanic Broadband, an integrator and solutions provider in the Oceania region. The acquisition will strengthen SpeedCast’s growing leadership position in Australasia servicing the natural resource sector, a market which Oceanic has been successfully developing for several years.
