New Indonesian prepaid Direct-To-Home (DTH) satellite service VIVA+ will deploy Newtec equipment to deliver all of its content, initially consisting of two HD and 35 SD channels.

The DTH platform, which launched in April 2014 to coincide with the World Cup, is featuring nine premium value ‘Ultimate World Cup Channels’ dedicated to broadcasting the upcoming World Cup taking place in Brazil between June 12th and July 13th.

Satellite communications specialist Newtec has been selected by HeliosNet® to power their new B2B and B2C VSAT broadband service over Eastern Russia. The new HeliosNet service will be offered using RSCC’s new Express-AM5 satellite, launched in December 2013.

In collaboration with NEC Colombia, S.A., Spanish satellite communications operator HISPASAT has started to install the first digital kiosks awarded to them in bidding last December 2013 by the Colombian Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. Inmarsat has proposed to ICAO a free global airline tracking service over the Inmarsat network, as part of the anticipated adoption of further aviation safety service measures by the world’s airlines following the loss of flight MH370. This service is being offered to all 11,000 commercial passenger aircraft, which are already equipped with an Inmarsat satellite connection, virtually 100 per cent of the world’s long haul commercial fleet.
