Telecommunications company Satlink, which specialises in products and services intended for the maritime sector, has chosen Hispasat, the Spanish satellite telecommunications operator, to strengthen its satellite connectivity solutions (VSAT) portfolio in Europe and Latin America.

This new solutions will be provided through the operator's platforms in Bogotá (Colombia) and Arganda del Rey (Spain).

Co-operation between Paradigm and UHP is set to continue with the integration of the UHP-200 modem into Paradigm’s field-proven PIM. The PIM is an easy-to-use, environmentally rugged terminal controller which enables mobile satellite terminals to be pointed and optimised quickly by non-technical users.

The PIM supports the UHP-200 modem, providing impressively high data rates on a range of high throughput satellites utilising UHP-based networks.  Operations using Paradigm’s ‘internet-in-a-backpack’ SWARM® terminal have delivered IP data rates exceeding 20Mbps duplex.

The Yamal-601 telecommunications satellite, designed and built by Thales Alenia Space for the Russian operator Gazprom Space Systems (GSS), is now going through in orbit testing after its successful launch on May 30 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan by a Proton M/Breeze M rocket.

The satellite will provide fixed communications, broadcast and Internet access services.

Thales Alenia Space was program prime contractor, in charge of satellite design, production and turnkey delivery, along with control software for the ground segment.
