Today Spanish satellite and telecommunications operator HISPASAT presented their Hispasat 36W-1 satellite (H36W-1) at their headquarters in Madrid. The satellite will be put into orbit on January 27 using a Soyuz launch vehicle and will be launched from the European Spaceport of Kourou in French Guiana.
ABS announced it has been granted the Network, Applications and Gateway Operator licenses to serve Papua New Guinea (PNG) from the National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA). The licenses awarded will allow ABS to operate as a telecom operator as well as a satellite service provider.

Spanish satellite and telecommunications operator HISPASAT will provide space capacity for the transmission in Latin America of Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos receiving the 2016 Nueva Economía Fórum Award. The ceremony will be held tomorrow at the Teatro Real in Madrid and will be presided over by Spanish president Mariano Rajoy. Transmission of the event will be made through the transponder of the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite, which provides coverage in the Americas, Europe and North Africa.
