Content is King at Video World Conference & Expo

Norwalk, Conn. August 8, 2012

The conference program at Video World Conference & Expo continues to grow, as additional speakers and sessions have been added to the agenda October 3-5 in Austin, Texas, TMC announced. Video World will assemble the best and brightest minds in the video and broadband industry to provide a depth-and-breadth educational agenda on all the latest trends in video. The show is collocated with ITEXPO, the world’s largest and best-attended communications and technology trade show.

Michael Adams, Head of Software Strategy for Ericsson’s Solution Area Media, has been selected to present the opening event keynote address Wednesday, October 3, at 10 a.m. CST, titled “Exploring Opportunities and Challenges in the Wide World of Video.” At Ericsson, Adams is currently focused on creating innovative solutions to enable a unified consumer experience for multi-screen video services.

In the Enterprise track, Michele McGarry, vice president of Business Development for ThinkAnalytics, will tackle the challenge of “Video Search and Discovery” on Wednesday, October 3, at 2:30 p.m. CST. The creation of video search and discovery software and services has changed the game for all parties by enabling asset location and retrieval in a timely manner and is fueling the drive to recommendation engines.

On Thursday, October 4, at 2 p.m., Raj Galagali, Advanced Technologies Director, Content Delivery for Juniper Networks, and Kevin Burden, Director of Mobility for the Global Wireless Practice at Strategy Analytics, will discuss “Supporting and Managing Video-Capable Wireless Devices – BYOD.” If IT thought they had it tough trying to manage, support and secure a sea of mobile devices from iPhones to iPads and beyond, the challenges are mounting. This session will discuss the implications of layering on video as these devices are used in the field.

In the service provider track, Andrew Morton, vice president of Broadband TV Solutions for Entone, Inc., will tackle the topic of “Exploring Revenue Models for Service Providers – Subscription, Advertising, PPV and More” on Wednesday, October 3, at 2:30 p.m. CST. Monetizing new and expanded video products and offerings for service providers can take many forms. Retaining pay TV subscription customers may eventually generate new revenue but is a top priority nonetheless. However, new options for advertising, pay-per-view, add-on capabilities and device revenues can all pay dividends from the outset. Service providers will learn how to best match their offerings with the options that works best for their consumer and business customers.

“The Video World Conference & Expo conference program continues to add industry visionaries to the lineup,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO of TMC. “We look forward to welcoming these speakers to Austin, and hearing best practices for taking video services to the next level.”
