Top 10 broadband countries for quarterly net additions

Point Topic's  latest research shows an interesting development in the broadband net addition stakes as the USA outperforms China, a clear reversal of the previous quarter’s performance. Russia remains in third place with the Philippines going straight into the top 10 in fourth position. Point Topic uses official sources as much as possible when compiling these statistics and occasional historical restatements are necessary when revised numbers from the official sources are made available. Please also note that, unlike previous quarters, the China number for this quarter does not include Taiwan and Macau.

Top 10 broadband countries by population penetration

With the exception of South Korea and Hong Kong, the top 10 chart for broadband population penetration is dominated by European countries. The smaller European average household size where each household will require its own broadband connection will inevitably push up the population penetration percentage. Another factor in the strong European performance is that these markets tend to be competitive which means lower more affordable prices for customers.
