UHP Networks Posts Record Results in Fiscal 2020
Montreal, Canada, June 3, 2020--UHP Networks, the Canadian manufacturer of advanced VSAT networking equipment and systems posted record results at the end of its fiscal year ending April 30, 2020. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and a major economic downturn unfolding in the last quarter, the company recorded highest revenue and profitability in its history.
Although business conditions are challenging, it continues to see strong demand for its disruptive time division multiple access (TDMA) technology, which provides the highest TDMA efficiency at the lowest cost available. In November 2019, UHP entered into an agreement in which Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) will purchase UHP. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
In the fiscal year 2020, the Canadian manufacturer established itself as a world leader in two important market segments such as Maritime Broadband connectivity and 4G Cellular Backhaul over TDMA VSAT and solidified its leadership position in complex high-availability VSAT networks. All company shipments have switched to the new generation of hardware and software products, which includes DVB-S2X, Adaptive Coding and Modulation and 5% roll off in MF-TDMA, Smart Redundancy with dynamic license assignment in the Hub systems. The company achieved important certifications with several Mobile Network Operators and the three major RAN equipment vendors as well as with several key players in the OpenRAN initiative. In 2019-2020 UHP significantly expanded its market footprint and achieved strategic wins in a number of key market verticals and regions, some of which are listed below.
- Strategic partnership with a large international network operator yielded multiple network installations in Latin America and in the Middle East
- Maritime network in Asia expanded to over 14,000 vessels
- High-availability Mesh network with dynamic topology and M:N geographically-redundant Hubs in Asia
- Enterprise network in Africa spans 7 HTS spot beams and includes geographically redundant Hubs
- 200-site cellular backhaul network in Asia Pacific provided flexible and affordable solution
The company maintained its operations at full capacity throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The product design with its software-defined modular architecture allows UHP to manage the supply chain in an efficient and effective manner, hence delivery lead times remain unaffected. As part of continued expansion of its service portfolio, UHP recently launched a new cloud-based 24/7/365 technical support service. There is no slowing down in the pace of technology innovation at UHP. The newest UHP software Release 3.6 provides major improvements in the performance and functionality. More details on UHP 3.6 will be given in the upcoming series of webinars.
Dr. Vagan Shakhgildian, CEO of UHP Networks commented. “These annual results were made possible by the continued loyalty of our great customers and by the outstanding teamwork of our talented staff. In these challenging times of uncertainty created by the global COVID-19 pandemic and the economic downturn, we were able to show innovation, resilience and commitment to our customers. The company continues to invest in further business and technology development. We are hiring more staff and have recently launched an even more ambitious R&D roadmap.”
