AvL Technologies 60cm Manual FlyAway Antenna Receives Eutelsat KA-SAT Type Approval
Asheville, NC, Sept. 4, 2014–AvL Technologies’ new ultra lightweight 60cm Manual FlyAway Antenna has received Eutelsat type approval for operation on KA-SAT. This lightweight and compact antenna has a robust 8-piece carbon fibre reflector and a manually-pointed positioner with fine tuning for Az and El. The antenna can be assembled and operational in less than 5 minutes, packs into a small airline carry-on compliant backpack, and weighs less than 16 kg when packed.
This compact grab-and-go antenna received approval using a Ka-band TRIA feed and Eutelsat’s Tooway modem. The antenna received approval with manual pointing, but has optional motorization. Other options include interchangeable X- and Ku-band feeds in addition to Ka-band (LP and CP) feeds.
“AvL Technologies’ new 60cm Manual FlyAway antenna is incredibly rigid for operation in Ka-band, and during testing performed well above expectation with data rates of more than 10 megabits up. The 60cm forms one of a family of ultra lightweight antennas that include 85cm and 1.0m options,” said Steve McGuinness, Vice President of International Sales for AvL Technologies.
The 60cm Manual FlyAway antenna will be on display at AvL Technologies stand – in Hall 5, Stand 5.A49 – at IBC 2014. Also on display in AvL’s booth will be the Eutelsat type-approved 85cm vehicle-mount antenna, as well as a new 2.0m vehicle-mount SNG antenna and additional manual FlyAway antennas with reflectors sized at 85cm, 1.2m and 2.4m.
