Comtech to Support Satellite Mobile Backhaul Network Upgrades in Asia
Tempe, Ariz., October 6, 2015--Comtech EF Data has been awarded a $1.1 million order for infrastructure equipment in Asia. A large mobile network operator in Asia will utilize the equipment to upgrade and expand its existing mobile backhaul network – increasing the throughput capabilities of its existing satellite connections while lowering its overall operating costs.
The customer’s existing network utilizes Comtech EF Data equipment. To support the network upgrade and expansion, a number of products featuring new innovations that drive throughput and spectral efficiencies will be deployed. Depending upon the required data rate and interface of each unique point-to-point link, the CDM-625A Advanced Satellite Modem, the CDM-570A-IP Satellite Modem or the DMD-20 Universal Satellite Modem will be utilized. Also ordered were Comtech EF Data frequency converters. The resulting economics of the upgrade will enable the mobile network operator to provide a heightened Quality of Experience to its users, enabling the true broadband experience.
"We are pleased that our customer has chosen Comtech equipment to upgrade its network," commented Dr. Stanton Sloane, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. "Our solution suite will facilitate this operator’s ability to meet the increased throughput demands of its customer base and to grow its business profitably while preparing for the future."
