RSCC Expands Satellite Communication Network Capabilities
Moscow, Russia, Jan. 28, 2019 — With the support of specialists from Istar LLC, RSCC successfully completed the installation and commissioning of five central stations based on UHP equipment to provide via-satellite communication using the Express-AM series spacecraft.
This will enable RSCC to use the capacity of its satellites more efficiently and expand the capabilities of the satellite communication network, offering customers modern telecommunications services.
The first subscribers are planned to be connected in February-March 2019.
Three stations are deployed on the territory of the Dubna Space Communications Center (SCC). They will operate the subscriber terminals via the Express-AM6, Express-AM7, and Express-AM8 spacecraft. Another central station is deployed on the territory of the Zheleznogorsk SCC (to operate via the Express-AM33 and on the territory of the Khabarovsk SCC (to operate via the Express-AM5). This completed the first stage of deploying the largest multi-service satellite communications network (in terms of the territory covered) using UHP equipment.
“The RSCC pays great attention to the use of new technologies in the process of advancing the Company’s communications systems,” says Evgeny Buydinov, RSCC Deputy General Director for Development and Operations. “This allows us to offer new in-demand services to users working via the RSCC satellites, as well as expand the geography and availability of services for various sectors of the economy both on fixed and mobile objects, including on sea vessels.”
Pavel Bakanov, General Director of Istar LLC, says: “The UHP technology was developed for high-performance multi-path satellites, which will enable the RSCC to seamlessly provide its customers with a full range of services, regardless of location and communication tasks. Modern DVB-S2X modulations in the forward channel, and high-performance reverse MF-TDMA and SCPC channels will make PACS services even more competitive and versatile. The infrastructure in place is easily expandable both by the number of satellites or beams involved, and by the number of subscriber terminals. We hope for further development of our cooperation with the RSCC both in Russia and in global markets, where each of the companies already has a solid presence.”
