UHP Networks Releases New Software to Boost Data Throughput and Save Bandwidth in VSAT TDMA Systems
Montreal, Canada, March 3, 2017--UHP Networks Inc, a leading manufacturer of innovative VSAT equipment, announced today that it has released software 3.4 which dramatically increases data throughput, bandwidth efficiency and overall flexibility and availability of VSAT networks. The new feature set will save up to 20% of bandwidth in the return TDMA link and at the same time double the data throughput of that link. It will also provide great benefits in large complex networks by introducing high-density hubs, expanding multi-carrier mesh feature and adding revolutionary dual-star network architecture.
Over the past few years the name UHP Networks has become synonymous with disruptive innovation in VSAT technology: low-cost high-performance Hubs and super-compact remotes integrated and deployed with flat-panel remote terminals. Early in 2016 the company introduced UHP-200 and UHP-100, a new line of satellite routers with the highest processing capability in the industry: up to 450 Mbps and up to 250,000 IP packets per second of aggregate traffic. The product introduction was highly successful and contributed to UHP becoming the fastest growing VSAT technology in the world with over 150% growth year-on-year. Now the manufacturer is adding a series of new features, which will further enhance value proposition of the product.
UHP Networks President and CEO Dr. Vagan Shakhgildian explains, “Almost all VSAT technologies have one thing in common in their system design: outbound (Hub to remotes) TDM carrier compliant with DVBS2 or DVB-S2X standard. It is the return link MF-TDMA where there are significant differences between technologies. Our TDMA design has traditionally been very advanced with the industry-lowest TDMA overhead. Now we have further enhanced that design, adding 5% spectrum roll-off and more FEC rates combined into ACM scheme. In addition, multi-frequency Mesh and dual-star network architecture will help operators to design and deploy cutting-edge VSAT networks with complex topology and highest availability”.
The latest innovation in software release 3.4 can be summarized as follows.
Topology - Revolutionary Dual-Star Architecture
- Geo-redundant / traffic-balanced networks
- Combination of spot and wide beams of HTS satellite in one network
- Regional gateways to comply with in-country regulations
- Hierarchical topologies with use of low-cost STAR terminals
Throughput - Next Generation MF-TDMA
- More MODCODS and higher symbol rate for HTS-based networks
- Multi-Frequency support in TDMA Mesh and TDMA Hubless for higher network throughput
- Adaptive symbol rate and wide-range ACM to combat fading
- Improved C/N thresholds and 5% roll-off to maximize spectral efficiency
- Jumbo-frame support and advanced traffic policies in Layer 2 bridge mode
UHP Networks will be exhibiting at the Satellite 2017 show in Washington DC, on March 7-9 (Booth 119). To book a live demonstration of the software release 3.4, email communications@uhp.net.
