New Report on "Satellite TV in the Arab World 2011"

Egypt & Saudi Arabia, followed by the UAE, host the highest number of FTA channels broadcasting in the Arab World

Amman, Jordan, June 22, 2011--The number of FTA satellite TV channels in the Arab World increased by 10.5% between April 2010 and April 2011 to reach 538 channels broadcast on Arabsat, Nilesat andNoorsat (fully operational channels reached 501). Arab Advisors Group research revealed that the highest number of channel types were the private-sector general channels followed by government-sector general channels, according to a new report by Arab Advisors Group.

3G Mobile Subscribers in India is Expected to Grow at a CAGR of 88% During 2011 -2014

Dublin, June 10, 2011--The Indian telecom industry has undergone a revolutionary change during the past few years to become one of the leading telecom markets on the global map. Easy availability of low-priced devices, rampant network coverage, and affordable services are some of the major factors that have boosted its growth and will continue to do the same in future. Further, wireless teledensity has also risen to the level of around 68% at the end of FY 2011, but still there is a vast scope for further improvement due to a wide gap in teledensity between urban and rural areas. For instance, the wireless teledensity in urban areas rose to around 150%, while it stood at around 33% in rural areas during FY 2011.

Asia Pacific to add 400 million digital TV Homes

London, June 6, 2011--Asia Pacific is undergoing a digital TV boom that will see penetration increase from 29% in 2010 to 73% in 2016 – or up by nearly 400 million homes, according to a new report from Digital TV Research. Fast-growth economies, higher disposable incomes and rising populations will lead this expansion. Digital TV Asia Pacific calculated that these factors will also result in 92 million more TV households between 2010 and 2016.

OTT Revenues Up to $20 Billion in 2016; Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube Set to Benefit, According to ABI Research

Surge in Video Will Drive Global Data Traffic to More Than 60,000 Petabytes in 2016

London, May 10, 2011--In 2011, the world’s annual data traffic volume will total almost 8,000 petabytes. That will grow at a CAGR of 50% over the following years, exceeding 60,000 petabytes in 2016 – over seven times more than in 2011. Connected TVs Forecast to Exceed 123 Million Units by 2014

Santa Clara, Calif., April 25, 2011—Nearly 20% of all TVs shipped in 2010 featured connected TV capabilities, according to the DisplaySearch Q1’11 Quarterly TV Design and Features Report, the connected TV category is forecast to grow to over 123 million shipments in 2014 (at a 30% compound annual growth rate). Emerging markets will also play a major role in this growth, with Eastern Europe forecast to grow from 2.5 million connected TVs shipped in 2010 to over 10 million in 2014. In addition, DisplaySearch findings indicate that 33% of flat panel TVs sold in China in 2013 will have internet capability.
