CASBAA Singapore Satellite Industry Forum to Focus on “Taking Care of Business”
Singapore, May 6, 2011- The CASBAA Singapore Satellite Industry Forum to be held on June 20, 2011, the day before CommunicAsia kicks off, provides the tools for the Asian satellite sector to "take care of business" in an ever more competitive world. Organized by the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA), the trade association is celebrating this year its 20th anniversary as an organization that has been in the forefront of key issues affecting the satellite and broadcasting industries in the Asia-Pacific region.
With digital demand driving satellite deployments across Asia and the rest of the world, what is the strategic thinking behind these multi-billion dollar technology commitments? From where will the next growth surge emerge?
These are some of the issues that will be tackled during this one-day forum that will include senior executives of the leading satellite companies not just in the Asia-Pacific but worldwide such as Intesat’s CEO David McGlade and SES’ CEO Romain Bausch. Others slated to speak include:
· Inoue Osamu, Senior EVP, SKY Perfect JSAT Corp.
· Cheng Guanreng, CEO, APT Satellite
· Andrew Jordan, President & CEO, GE Satellite
· Tom Choi, CEO, Asia Broadcast Satellite
· Paul Brown-Kenyon, COO, MEASAT
· Andrew Wallace, Chief Commercial Officer, Eutelsat
· Mike Antonovich, MD, Global Crossing Genesis Solutions
Speakers will tackle such topics as “Satellite Broadband: Ka-Band and Higher?” “DTH in Asia: Still the Big Upside” “What do Customers Want?” “Blue Sky Watching” and the “Future of Satellites.”
“From tiny beginnings in early 1991 when there were few business plans, no cable TV platforms nor mature satellite TV systems, Asia’s pay-TV market is now a US$40 billion business serving more than 3.5 billion people," said CASBAA Chairman Marcel Fenez.
From its inception as a networking group, CASBAA has emerged as the pre-eminent industry body representing the interests of 130 corporations across 16 markets and more than 360 million households across Asia.
Over the past 20 years, Asia’s communications industry, its media market and its economic drivers have been revolutionized by the launch of thousands of pay-TV channels and platforms. On-line and internet-based distribution of content through connected media, mobility and highly interactive premium TV has enhanced traditional cable and satellite TV services.
Today, Asia's pay-TV sector continues to wrestle with the challenges in this new digital world which are redefining global pay-TV business models, and the parallel need to fully digitize the region's 360 million subscription TV households.
