Point Topic's forecasts use targets set by government, BT and the BDUK projects to estimate which postcodes are likely to get coverage and when. This allows us identify the areas that will still be left behind after the commercial and state-funded roll-outs are complete, or the 'final 10%'. The map shows our forecast of superfast coverage at the end of 2015. Overall the UK is expected to have just over 90% coverage at the end of 2015 - Wales and the South West will have the lowest coverage, with 83% and 84% superfast coverage respectively.

The new datasets also show:

  • While Sky's LLU coverage has extended to a further 1.3m premises following the acquistion of O2 in the first half of the year, it has still not exceeded TalkTalk's coverage.
  • At the end of June 2013, 30% of premises could not access any superfast broadband services - 30% could access both cable and fibre-based services.
  • 1.5m premises are now able to access top-speeds of 330Mbps or more, but 230k still can't access speeds higher than 1Mbps.
