DirecTV Surpasses Analysts Expectations; Posts 6% Rise in Revenues to US $7.88 Bil.

El Segundo, Calif., Nov. 7, 2013 — DirecTV increased its third quarter 2013 revenues by 6% to US$ 7.88 billion, operating profit before depreciation and amortization (OPBDA) by 15% to US$ 1.93 billion, operating profit by 15% to US$ 1.23 billion, and earnings per share by 42% to US$ 1.28 exceeding financial analysts’ expectations.

Orbcomm Revenues Rise 22.4% to $19.7-M in 3Q 2013

Rochelle Park, NJ, Nov. 7, 2013 — Orbcomm Inc. said on Thursday total revenues increased 22.4% year-over year to US$ 19.7 million during the third quarter ending September 30, 2013, while service revenues increased 8.3% over the prior year period to US$13.8 million.

PSSI Global Services Acquires New England Satellite

Las Vegas, NV, Nov 4, 2013 — PSSI Global Services LLC (PSSI), a leader in satellite transmission and event management, has acquired New England Satellite (NES).  The deal closed on November 1, 2013. Financial details of the acquisition were not revealed.

Government & Industry to Combine for 1,150 Satellites Over Next Decade

Paris, France, November 4, 2013 – According to Euroconsult's recently published research report, Satellites to be Built & Launched by 2022, World Market Survey , 115 satellites will be launched on average each year worldwide over the next 10 years (2013-2022). As several commercial and government constellations will be launched into low earth orbit (LEO) in the coming years, up to 140 satellites per year are expected between 2015 and 2017, decelerating to 100 units afterwards.

TeleCommunication Systems Nets US$ 96-M in Q3, Down 31 percent from 2012

Annapolis, Md., Nov. 1, 2013 — TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS), a leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, reported on Thursday revenue of $96 million, up 3 percent from $92.8 million in the previous quarter but down 31 percent from $140.1 million in the third quarter of 2012. 

Intelsat Nets US$ 87.8-M in 3Q, Warns of Lower Revenues Ahead

Washington, D.C., November 1, 2013 — Intelsat S.A.  reported on revenues of US$ 651.8 million and net income of $87.8 million, or $0.75 per share, for the three months ended September 30, 2013.  But the company admitted that its Q3 revenues was badly hit by the slowdown in military and other US Defense Department spending on satellite bandwidth, and warned of even lower revenues ahead from cuts in U.S. government spending.

DigitalGlobe Posts US$1.8 Mil. Loss Despite Revenue Rise of 54 percent to $164.8-M in 3Q

Longmont, CO, Oct. 31, 2013 — Global provider of high-resolution earth imagery solutions, DigitalGlobe, Inc., reported  third quarter 2013 revenue of US$ 164.8 million, a 54 percent increase compared with the same period last year. Despite the big rise in revenue, the company reported a net loss of $1.8 million and a net loss available to common shareholders of US$ 2.8 million.
