ATLAS Names Sean Casey Vice President of Business Development
Traverse City, MI,Oct. 22, 2018 — ATLAS Space Operations announced today the appointment of Sean Casey, Ph.D. as the new Vice President of Business Development. Dr. Casey brings to ATLAS a long track-record of success, including more than 25 years of leadership experience, and unparalleled subject-matter-expertise.
“We have seen steady growth this year both in sales and as a company,” said Sean McDaniel, CEO of ATLAS. “With the introduction of our revolutionary antenna technology and the continued expansion of our global ground network, I couldn't think of a more perfect time to bring in Dr. Casey to expand ATLAS’ commercial lines of business.”

Sean Casey said McDaniel and his team have done a great job, and not only is ATLAS on track for capturing a significant portion of the NewSpace market’s data and communications services, the company’s capability for disrupting the industry reaches much farther.

Sean Casey comes to ATLAS from Silicon Valley, California where he is a Principal at the investment banking merger and acquisitions firm, NewCap Partners, and he served as the President of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Space and Satellite Professionals International (SSPI).
Dr. Casey co-founded two separate business accelerators for NewSpace entrepreneurs including the New York Space Alliance (NYSA), and the Silicon Valley Space Center (SVSC), for which he served as its Managing Director between 2012 and 2017, championing early-stage startups in commercial space industry. Prior to his work with the SVSC, Sean served more than 20 years at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the Ames Research Center.
Dr. Casey is a member of the Suborbital Applications Researchers group of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation (CSF). He holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Chicago, and MBAs from both Columbia and the Berkeley Hass Schools of Business.
