NSSLGlobal Appoints Neil Fraser as Director of Defense and Space Programs
Surrey, UK, February 13, 2020--Neil Fraser has just been appointed as Director of Defense and Space Programs at NSSLGlobal. Fraser has made the move to NSSLGlobal to help shape and grow the defense communications side of the business. He seeks to connect his military experience with emerging technology and industry best practice to deliver
Prior to joining NSSLGlobal, he spent 6 years growing Viasat’s capabilities and presence across UK Government and the space sector ranging from consumer broadband to military communications. Before joining industry, he spent 26 years in the British Army:
- As a Major he commanded a divisional communications squadron and, after the Advanced Command and Staff Course, 216 Parachute Signal Squadron with operational tours to the Balkans in 2001 and then some 3 months after 9-11 to Afghanistan in 2001/2002 to establish communications for the initial ISAF mission.
- As a Lieutenant Colonel he spent most of 2004 as the Chief of Staff of a US Task Force providing Reconstruction Teams across Afghanistan and working with Afghan institutions and Government agencies for which he was awarded a US Bronze Star, followed by a year in the high readiness Joint Force HQ spending time in India, the Lebanon, Norway and Malawi. From 2006 he formed and then commanded 22 Signal Regiment, taking it from an idea through to a 570 strong unit in a year and then in 2008/2009 delivering UK defence communications across Afghanistan.
- As a full Colonel he spent 3 years leading the 60 strong MOD team responsible for Satcom and Strategic Radio, delivering global MOD connectivity largely through the Skynet 5 Private Finance Initiative.
- He also served in the Balkans, Northern Ireland and with Airborne and Commando forces.
