Nevion Brings New, State-of-the-Art Managed Media Services to IBC
Attendees will see VideoIPath’s support for the full range of Nevion products including the Video Gateway series for IP transport and nSure monitoring and switching products - a result of Nevion’s merger with T-VIPS. VideoIPath also now supports advanced security features, protecting network resources through authentication, authorisation and privacy mechanisms.
VideoIPath 3.0 allows broadcasters, telcos and service providers to gain the full operational benefits and financial advantages of next-generation media networks built upon a mix of IP and optical transport technologies. Through a seamless combination of proven transport hardware solutions and state-of-the-art management and control, the system provides the intelligence, network awareness and control capability needed to bridge the gap between a transport infrastructure and the core services of a media transport service provider—entirely managed from a single intuitive interface.
“VideoIPath was conceived and designed for the new age of media transport,” said Arnhild Schia, chief commercial officer, Nevion. “It not only delivers smarter, more dynamic use of network resources, but it also reduces network complexity and equipment required, saves operating costs, and increases revenue through better resource use and the ability to transport more content. Our customers experience a lot of power and benefits from one integrated system.”
Encompassing the latest Ventura transport modules, VideoIPath features the industry’s widest range of high-quality compression solutions, providing a media transport solution for every bandwidth. High-quality, industry-low latency JPEG 2000 codecs strike a balance between quality and bandwidth utilisation, while new H.264 solutions provide contribution-quality compression for bandwidth-limited environments. Uncompressed transport options provide high-quality IP transport when bandwidth is not an issue.
VideoIPath for media networks encompasses service provisioning, connection management, service analytics, network inventory, and fault-, configuration- and performance-management functions for small to medium-sized broadcast networks, as well as large service provider networks.
VideoIPath is built on a distributed database and distributed processing model from the ground up. Multiple hardware servers provide high availabillity for zero loss of functionality or performance should one of the servers go down. VideoIPath’s modular architecture allows customisation to fit specific needs. The platform consists of a number of apps that can be launched from any standard web browser, enabling the creation of custom apps for specific purposes.
