SSPI Southern California Chapter Scholarship 2014

The Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI), a non-profit organization, was established in 1986 by satellite professionals working in the satellite industry. SSPI supports worthwhile satellite-related and educational projects, as well as other community service projects. We encourage you to visit SSPI’s website at www.sspi.org for additional information.

In 2014 the Southern California (“So-Cal”) Chapter of SSPI is offering scholarship(s) to Students that are Seniors in High school or attending college.  The SSPI So-Cal Chapter will award scholarships to students who demonstrate through their application and personal interview a demonstrated interest in and commitment to pursue educational and career opportunities in satellite-related technologies, policies or application. a high standard of academic achievements, and service to their school and community.  Satellite-related fields include: telecommunications, remote sensing, imaging, space law, business, distance learning, meteorology, energy, government, navigation, cable TV, broadcasting and content delivery

In addition to completing this application, applicants may be invited to interview with members of SSPI’s So-Cal Chapter Board. All students’ written applications and interviews will be evaluated using the following criteria:

·               Interest in the satellite industry or related fields

·               Academic achievement and honors

·               Communication/Presentation skills

·               Financial need

·               Service to school

·               Service to the community
