Stephen Nuttall announced as New Chair of IBC’s Partnership Board

London, UK., January 15, 2025 – Stephen Nuttall has been appointed as the new Chair of IBC’s Partnership Board. Made up of representatives from each of the six partner organisations which own IBC (IABM, IEEE, IET, RTS, SCTE and SMPTE), the IBC Partnership Board provides the governance and strategic oversight of IBC. 

Stephen has over thirty years’ leadership experience gained as a senior executive and consultant in the sports, media and digital industries at some of the world’s best pay TV companies, online businesses and sports rights holders. His most recent consultancy work includes leading media production and distribution for the 36th and 37th editions of the America’s Cup and for Goodwood’s motorsports events. In addition, he is a senior advisor to Searchlight Capital Partners, a transatlantic private equity fund. Stephen’s appointment was facilitated by Spencer Stuart, one of the world's leading global executive search and leadership consulting firms.

Biography: Stephen Nuttall

With over thirty years’ leadership experience gained as a senior executive and consultant in the sports, media and digital industries at some of the world’s best pay TV companies, online businesses and sports rights holders, Stephen is strategic, commercial and operational, has a strong network, a track record of success in international and complex environments, and knows how the media, online and telecommunications sectors must continue to change.  

Stephen’s recent consultancy work includes leading media production and distribution for the 36th and 37th editions of the America’s Cup and for Goodwood’s motorsports events. In addition, he is a Senior Advisor to Searchlight Capital Partners, a transatlantic private equity fund.  

From 2012 until 2017, Stephen was the Senior Director for YouTube in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. From 2001 to 2011, Stephen held a variety of positions at Sky rising to be Group Commercial Director and was also a board member of Team Sky (Sky’s cycling team), Freeview, the National Geographic Channel and A&E (UK). He has extensive non-executive experience having previously served as a member of Ofcom’s Content Board, Deputy Chair of the British Science Association and on the boards of AEK Athens, Slavia Prague and Vicenza Calcio football clubs.

Stephen has an MBA from SDA Bocconi in Milan and a first class degree in Physics and Applied Physics from the University of Nottingham. He is a member of BAFTA, the Royal Television Society, the Queen’s Club and Marylebone Cricket Club. An enthusiastically untalented squash player, golfer and cyclist, he is married with two children and lives in London.
