South Africa is hosting the 2014 competition which will take place 11 January through 1 February, 2014.

Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., January 6, 2014 –Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) successfully launched the THAICOM 6 satellite for Asian satellite operator THAICOM.  The Falcon 9 rocketdelivered THAICOM 6 to its targeted 295 x 90,000 km geosynchronous transfer orbit at 22.5 degrees inclination.  It was the second successful launch for a commercial company by Spaex into geostationary transfer orbit in a little over a month. The Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched the SES-8 satellite last month.

Tel Aviv, Israel, December 26, 2013, 2013–Spacecom the operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, today announced that the AMOS-4 communications satellite has successfully arrived at 65°E, its designated permanent service location. Redmond, Wash. – Dec. 17, 2013 – Kymeta Corporation, the company commercializing innovative metamaterials-based flat-panel antennas for satellite communications, today announced that it has successfully demonstrated bi-directional high-speed Internet connectivity with a Ka-band high-throughput satellite. This is the first time a metamaterials-based antenna has established an Internet connection over a satellite link and confirms that Kymeta is ready to move into commercial product development and production.

Warsaw, Poland, December 12, 2013 – Telecommunications operator Signalhorn S.á r.l has received the final approval from the Polish government on December 4, 2013. This approval is the final approval required to proceed with the Signalhorn and Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności Nr 1 S.A. (WZŁ Nr 1- a government owned entity) long-term agreement established on November 29, 2012.

Santa Clara, Calif., December 9, 2013--Comtech Telecommunications Corp. announced today that its Santa Clara, California-based subsidiary, Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc., received an order for approximately US$ 7.0 million from a U.S.-based system integrator for Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs) for a major U.S. Army Satellite Communications program.
