RSCC's Express-AM5 satellite Used in restoring Communications and Internet in Fire-affected Yakutia region

Moscow, Russia, August 24, 2021--Forest fires have swept over 7 million hectares in Yakutia regionin Russia,  burning out an area comparable to that of a small European country. Residential buildings and social infrastructure have been damaged, in some places there is no electricity supply, and communication facilities are not available.

RSCC Completes Relocation of the Express-AM33 satellite from the Eastern to the Western Hemisphere

Moscow, Russia, August 18, 2021--Specialists of the Operations Department of the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC)  have completed the relocation  of the Express-AM33 satellite from the orbital position of 96.5° E to the 11° W slot. The satellite commenced operation on its new orbital slot on August 17, 2021. 

Mission Microwave Continues Support of Tactical Terminal Upgrade Programs

Cypress, CA, August 18, 2021---Mission Microwave Technologies, LLC, a manufacturer of highly efficient Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) and Block Upconverters (BUCs) has received follow-on orders from a government contractor to provide Ku and Ka-band Block Upconverters (BUCs) as components of complex SATCOM transportable terminals in support of the US Army. This third order for the ongoing program is valued at $6 million. At the completion of this third tranche of BUCs, the program will be roughly one-third complete.

Herndon, Va., August 17, 2021–Teams from ST Engineering iDirect and Gilat Telecom have achieved the successful remote installation and commissioning of two Newtec Dialog® hubs to power cellular backhaul services for mobile network operator, Vodacom, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the largest country in Sub-Saharan Africa. The new hubs enabled Vodacom to migrate its VSAT-based 2G network to 3G across 150 Base Tranceiver Station (BTS) sites with the Base Station Controller located in Kinshasa. The new deployment replaces traditional SCPC links and increases efficiency in facilitating 3G data traffic.

Mission Microwave's 200 watt Ka-Band Solid State BUC Demand Remains Strong While 400 watt Ka-Band SSPA Orders Ramp Up

Cypress, CA , August 11, 2021–Mission Microwave Technologies, LLC, a manufacturer of highly efficient Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) and Block Upconverters (BUCs) continues to receive new and follow-on orders for its 200 watt Titan BUCs for use in a variety of satellite constellations. Mission Microwave’s terminal integrator customers have been deploying the Ka-Band Titan BUC in volume since 2017. Titan Ka-band BUC orders placed and scheduled for delivery in 2021 exceed US$ 8 million.

 

HISPASAT Launches Pilot Project with Correos

Madrid, Spain,  August 3,  2021--HISPASAT, Grupo Red Eléctrica's communications satellite operator, has begun a pilot project with Correos to give satellite connectivity to certain offices located in places where Internet access is problematic. The pilot will initially be run in six locations - three in Zamora (Santa Cristina de la Polvorosa, Fermoselle and Coreses), two in Teruel (Valdealgolfa and Mosqueruela) and one in Soria (Duruelo de la Sierra) - and may be rolled out to the company's other rural service points that have connectivity issues.
