EM Solutions Awarded Australian Defense Grant to Develop Next-generation Maritime Satellite Terminal

Brisbane, Australia, April 1, 2014--EM Solutions, a Brisbane-based designer and manufacturer of broadband satellite communications equipment, was awarded by the Austrailian Minister for Defense a grant under Round 18 of the AUS$ 13 million Capability and Technology Demonstrator (CTD) program to develop the next-generation satellite terminal for ships.

Boeing on Schedule to Deliver World’s 1st All-Electric Satellites for ABS and Eutelsat

El Segundo, Calif., , March 24, 2014 -- Boeing  is on track to deliver the world's first all-electric propulsion satellites in late 2014 or early 2015 as it has met key production milestones on its initial 702SP (small platform) satellites. Boeing recently completed static qualification testing, verification and assembly of the primary structures for 702SP inaugural customers ABS and Eutelsat, with the spacecraft scheduled to be launched as a pair in a stacked configuration.

Cobham SATCOM Becomes First Antenna Vendor Approved for Telenor’s THOR 7 satellite

Washington, D.C., March 12, 2014--Cobham SATCOM’s SAILOR VSAT antennas have been approved for operation on the existing Ku-band as well as the forthcoming THOR 7 Ka-band satellite from Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc). THOR 7, TSBc’s latest satellite is expected to be launched in Q4, 2014 and is equipped with a Ka band HTS payload. The SAILOR 800 VSAT and SAILOR 900 VSAT have been approved to support Ku band services on the existing THOR fleet. Additionally, SAILOR 900 VSAT will be compatible with THOR 7.
