Cypress, Calif., July 13, 2022--Mission Microwave Technologies, LLC, a manufacturer of highly efficient Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) has confirmed an eight million dollar order for the continuation of a major upgrade program for a customer supporting a US Government requirement.

Herndon, Va., July 12, 2022–ST Engineering iDirect, a global leader in satellite communications, announced today that Malaysian satellite operator MEASAT, is significantly expanding its iDirect Evolution-based satellite network to deliver a plethora of services to enterprises and communities located in rural and ultra-rural areas across Malaysia. MEASAT-3d, launched on June 22, 2022, will provide C, Ku and Ka-band HTS capacity so that users will be able to enjoy high-speed broadband regardless of their location within Malaysia. The contract was sealed in partnership with Datacom, a regional service integrator and long-term partner of ST Engineering iDirect, that will carry out the upgrade, activation and support of the network.

The unit covers a frequency range from 50MHz to 40GHz with a dynamic range of 38dB and with its high quality and superior RF power accuracy it assures precise and reliable measurements. It is available as a hand held unit or can be fit into a 1RU/19" rack mount chassis with capacity for up to four dual power meters allowing to monitor up to 8 RF signals. Singapore, June 14, 2022 — Kacific Broadband Satellites Group, along with local partners Indonesia (BIGNET) and PT Primacom Interbuana (PRIMACOM), has completed the deployment of over 2,500 sites, in a record five-month timeframe, to provide satellite internet access to government infrastructure in remote areas of Indonesia. This project is led by the nation’s Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency BAKTI using funds from the Universal Service Obligation.  

Erpe-Mere, Belgium June 14, 2022 –The spaceflight industry planted a new flag in Belgium today as ST Engineering iDirect announced that it will be manufacturing components used in flight systems for spacecraft to European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) standards at its Manufacturing Competence Center (MCC) in Erpe-Mere, Belgium.

Satellite services being rolled out at more than 2,000 remote schools in the Philippines will use the iDirect Evolution Hub, iQ Desktop modems, gateway antenna and HPA (High Power Amplifier). Global satellite operator SES will provide Ku-band capacity via the SES-9 satellite.

Los Angeles, Calif. June 1, 2022--Our industry is known for innovation. Sometimes this comes from within, from well-established companies, and sometimes it comes from totally outside the industry, as Elon Musk did twenty years ago when he founded SpaceX. This makes trying to write a short article on innovation, all the more challenging, there is so much to choose from! So, I decided to focus on new entrants, but this still left very many interesting companies to choose from. In the end, I decided to limit myself to companies trying to solve a known problem, then rather arbitrarily selected four companies.
