DEV Systemtechnik Devices Not Vulnerable to Meltdown and Spectre Malware

Friedberg, Germany, February 6, 2018--DEV Systemtechnik (, supplier of RF signal transmission solutions for satellite, cable and broadcast applications, announced that its products do not use the type of CPU processors that are vulnerable to Meltdown and Spectre malware.  It was recently reported that several popular types of CPUs commonly used in computers, phones, and tablets were discovered to have security flaws.  The flaws could allow hackers to read out sensitive data of an affected device that is vulnerable to the Meltdown and Spectre malware.

Norbert Reiss, Engineering Manager of DEV Systemtechnik, said "Since the security breaches became known, we have received several inquiries from our customers asking if the processors used in DEV devices pose a security risk from Meltdown and Spectre.  The answer is no.  Our products do not use the type of CPUs that are reported to be vulnerable to Spectre and Meltdown.  As soon as we became aware of the Spectre and Meltdown threat, we immediately checked the risk in our products as part of our quality management and confirmed that the processors we had installed were not affected by the security gaps."
