Integrasys Announces GPS Rollover Mitigation
Madrid, Spain, March 11, 2019 — Integrasys, which specializes in engineering and manufacturing Satellite Spectrum Monitoring Systems in the telecommunication and broadcasting markets, has announced a nanosecond switching solution to implement in minimum time synchronization failure of telco and broadcast companies, avoiding a dramatic service interruption up to over 48 hours.
Integrasys said it has been working over the past years on a nanosecond switching solution to automatically switch the synchronization to an alternative synchronization path in case this primary synchronization clock suffers from any synchronization failure.
Integrasys said it has the solution to manage the most reliable communications in the coming GPS end of Week Rollover predicted on April 2019, where the GPS constellation will change the cycle and will reboot, stopping the GPS services over 48 hours for equipment already in operation.
The company said it has been intensively working on how to seamlessly synchronize clocks following Precision Time Protocol with 10MHz references, after working with CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) in the nanosecond synchronization project. It also conducted synchronizing experiments in long distance areas, such as Switzerland and Italy.
Nuclear research demands the highest synchronization accuracy and reduce jitters, which not even GPS complies with. Integrasys explained, it worked with CERN to enable their equipment to have this synchronization capability and fulfil the needs of the market. Integrasys assured customers it has developed the software that enables an automated switch to the most accurate timing source available in the event GPS is interrupted due to the scheduled rollover.
The software solution, Integrasys said, offers simulation tests for transmission chains where the company simulated the rollover.
Integrasys emphasized that has started with numerous projects to prevent the event with its state-of- the-art nanosecond switching and RF degradation mitigation solution, which could result in a massive revenue lose for teleports, TV channels, Terrestrial networks and satellite networks.
