TV Upfronts Take Centre Stage in Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand, September 18, 2012--The power of multichannel TV for advertisers continues to be a focus for CASBAA as the Association traveled to Thailand. Presented in association with Campaign Asia-Pacific and local operator TrueVisions, The Bangkok Screenings attracted 160 attendees representing advertising agencies, clients and networks.

IRG and GVF Tackle Interference at IBC 2012

Amsterdam, September 1, 2012--The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) and Global VSAT Forum (GVF) announced a number of meetings and initiatives relating to satellite interference at IBC. On Thursday 6th September, IRG and GVF are organising a Eutelsat-sponsored meeting to discuss value-added services, that may be enabled by the Space Data Assocation. The meeting will be hosted in the Holiday Inn, Amsterdam from 1-5pm.

Satellite IRG to Host Annual Conference in Dubai

Douglas, Isle of Man, August 21, 2012--The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) today announced that its annual conference will be held in Dubai from 18th - 20th November 2012.The annual IRG conference brings together experts from all areas of the industry, including broadcasters, satellite operators, and equipment manufacturers. International Discussion Forum on HTS Satellites to be Organised by GVF-EMP

Washington, D.C., August 1, 2012--Broadband is the hot topic all around the world and the global satellite industry is responding to accelerating demand for frequency spectrum to satisfy the requirements for increasing Internet bandwidth from a wide range of end-users. Key end-users include the Corporate, Enterprise, Government, NGO, and Internet Service Provision sectors, as well as the satellite news gathering (SNG) segment, and the consumer sector. As of November 2011, new satellites with ‘High Throughput’ capability already numbered around 30 in geosynchronous (GEO) orbit alone, and satellite operators have announced plans for additional ‘High Throughput’ systems that will see around 40 more satellites in GEO, together with constellations of other systems in medium earth orbit (MEO) and low earth orbit (LEO).

The GVF Maritime Insights Agenda Next Stop Singapore

London, UK, July 9, 2012--In my contribution to the previous edition of Satellite Executive Briefing I wrote of the maritime communications environment being fairly characterized as “highly dynamic”.  Indeed, this very dynamism was well demonstrated at the “Maritime Insights Europe 2012: Expanding Communications with Fixed & MobileNetworking Solutions to Further Horizons” conference, which took place in London on 27th and 28th June, and about which I also wrote in that earlier column.
