Linear TV via Satellite Market to See Over 12K New Channel Growth in Next 10 Years

Cambridge, Mass., March 1, 2017 – NSR’s Linear TV via Satellite, 9th Edition, released tomorrow, shows that despite inroads OTT has made in many regions, Linear TV via satellite will remain a global growth market with over 12,200 new channels over the next 10 years, reaching over 53,600 total by 2026.  However, the heady days of exponential Direct to Home (DTH) & Video Distribution growth appear to be coming to an end as markets saturate and competition increases.

MENA Pay TV Revenue Forecasts Downgraded

London, UK, February 1, 2017--Digital TV Research released today a  report on "Middle East and North Africa Pay TV Forecasts.'  The report forecasts that legitimate pay TV revenues will reach $4.12 billion for 20 countries in the Middle East and North Africa by 2022, up by 17% from $3.52 billion in 2016. Five countries will contribute more than three-quarters of the region’s pay TV revenues in 2022. 

Pay-TV Providers Neglect Customer Experience at their Peril

London, UK, January 26, 2016–Pay-TV operators can no longer simply rely on the strength of their content offering to maintain subscriber loyalty but must raise their customer relationship management game to gain ground in an increasingly competitive marketplace, new global research from subscription, billing and CRM specialist Paywizard shows. The survey of more than 6,200 consumers reveals 24% have cancelled a digital pay-TV service in the previous 12 months because of poor customer experience, while 84% say they would terminate a relationship with a TV provider if service and support were lacking and the company seemed out of touch with their needs.

ABI Research Sees Service Providers Switching from Channel to Linear OTT Video over Traditional TV

Oyster Bay, New York, January 20, 2017--Service providers are decreasing marketing on their cable, satellite, and IPTV products that offer managed quality of service in favor of new products that use over the top (OTT) technologies to compete with Amazon and Netflix. Cellular Lines in the Arab World Slight Growth of 0.05% over 2015

Amman, Jordan, January 4, 2017--By end of the first quarter 2016, mobile operators in nineteen Arab countries had 414.736 million cellular lines, up from 414.544 million by yearend 2015; a growth of 0.05%. A new report from Arab Advisors Group analyzes and ranks cellular operators in the Arab World. Two of the cellular operators in Egypt; Vodafone and Orange were the largest Arab cellular operators in terms of subscriptions by end of March 2016.

Internet of Things Connected Devices to Triple by 2021, Reaching Over 46 Billion Units

Hampshire, UK, December 13, 2016--New data from Juniper Research has found that the number of connected IoT (Internet of Things) devices, sensors and actuators will reach over 46 billion in 2021. This 200% increase, from 2016, will be driven in large part by a reduction in the unit costs of hardware. Juniper forecasts that it will average close to the ‘magic’ $1 throughout the period.
