Sixth International Broadband Maritime Event Points to Next Stages in Inter-Industry Cooperation – Satellite 2012, Washington DC; and Broadband Maritime Europe 2012, London

London, UK, February 22, 2012-The most recent GVF-EMP Conference Partnership event in its Broadband Maritime Series, which for the first time co-located with an InterManager regional conference in its Shipping KPI Project, under the joint title of ‘Maritime Insights’,  concluded with an across-the-board acknowledgement of its success.  ‘Maritime Insights’ took place in two streams over 14th & 15th February 2012 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore, and comprised the GVF-EMP ‘Broadband Maritime Offshore & Oceanic 2012: Information & Communications Networking Mobility South East Asia’ conference as Stream One on day one, with Stream Two on the second day featuring the Shipping KPI Project, InterManager’s shipping industry KPI standards event.

153 countries Sign Treaty Governing Spectrum and Satellite orbits at WARC 2012

Geneva, Switzerland, February 17, 2012--The World Radiocommunication Conference 2012 (WRC-12)  concluded its deliberations today with the signing of the Final Acts that revise the Radio Regulations, the international treaty governing the use of radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.Over 3000 participants, representing 165 out of ITU’s 193 Member States attended the four-week Conference, braving the extreme winter conditions prevailing in Geneva. Over 100 Observers from among ITU’s 700 private sector members along with international organizations also attended WRC-12.

World Radiocommunication Conference opens in Geneva

Geneva, Switzerland, January 23, 2012--The World Radiocommunication Conference opened in Geneva today to review and revise the Radio Regulations, the international treaty governing the use of radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits. The work of this international treaty-making Conference will be conducted over four weeks until 17 February to address the changes required to the regulation of orbit/spectrum resources in the interest of the users of these scarce resources, with global implications for policy-makers, regulators, the industry as well as end-users.

GVF and SeaTel Collaborate on Marine VSAT Training and Installation

Washington, D.C., January 12, 2012--High-quality marine VSAT terminal deployments are being facilitated through the collaboration of three leading industry organizations on a global online training program. The Global VSAT Forum (GVF), Sea Tel, and SatProf have announced that they will jointly launch a web-based training platform at www.gvf.org/training that enables faster, more cost-effective delivery of operation and installation training for personnel who either utilize or deploy Sea Tel marine VSAT terminals.
