IRG Takes Interference Mitigation to Latin America
Douglas, Isle of Man, October 1, 2013 – The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) will be tackling a number of important issues at its annual conference, which this year takes place in Rio de Janeiro from 16th - 18th October and is being sponsored by Intelsat, Kratos, Newtec, and SatMex.
The conference will address the issue of satellite interference, as well as updating attendees on the current tools and initiatives to tackle it. Topics already confirmed include Geolocation, Carrier ID (CID), VSAT improvements, and Intentional Interference. It will also explore the current interference environment, with a particular focus on Latin America, covering regulatory, pirating, and interference issues within the region.
“There is a great deal of focus on Latin America currently with the upcoming sporting events,” commented Martin Coleman, Executive Director, IRG. “It was therefore perfect timing to take our conference to the region and begin the process of increasing CID awareness and implementation in time for those events, following the overwhelming success of our CID campaign for London 2012.”
The IRG annual conference also gives the working groups a chance to update the industry on milestones achieved during the last year.
“There is a lot of progress being made for all three working groups in the background,” commented Roger Franklin, Chairman, CID Working Group. “The conference gives us a chance to give and receive feedback on that progress and get input from the industry on the next steps.”
IRG is currently looking for additional speaking proposals. To make a suggestion, please email press@satirg.org. To register for the conference, please visit the IRG website.
