NAB to Host Four Sessions at SET Expo in Brazil
Sao Paulo, Brazil, August 7, 2014--The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) will produce four sessions at the SET Expo in São Paulo, Brazil, August 24-25. The sessions will address topics ranging from sports production, 4K video, media management in the cloud, and producing content for multiple devices.
NAB's participation in SET is part of the NAB Show Collaborative, an initiative to support the advancement of the global broadcast, media and entertainment communities.
SET Expo is produced by the Brazilian Society of Television Engineering (SET). SET is a non-profit technical society, formed by technology and operations professionals, which aims to develop technical knowledge in the complete chain of electronic media, from production to delivery. SET is the major discussion forum of standards and trends for broadcast and digital media in Brazil.
"We look forward to expanding NAB's participation in SET," said Chris Brown, executive vice president, Conventions and Business Operations at NAB. "Our relationship advances the conversation about global business opportunities in broadcasting, digital media and entertainment."
The first session, on competition in sports production, will take place on Sunday, August 24 at 9:00 a.m. With Latin America considered the fastest growing sports market, presenters will discuss challenges and opportunities in producing a truly engaging experience through multi-platform sports content.
The sports production session will be followed by a presentation by Matthew Goldman, senior vice president of technology at Ericsson. Goldman will outline Ericsson's developments in 'true' 4K UHDTV technology and its impact on events such as the 2016 Olympics.
Mark Ramberg, general manager of media and entertainment at Amazon Web Services, will present NAB's third session on August 24. He will discuss how cloud services enable media and entertainment companies to offer content anytime, anywhere, on any device. Ramberg will also explore how cloud services can alleviate increasing infrastructure demands of film production and broadcast.
The final session, held on Monday, August 25, will examine how DirecTV is advancing video delivery in Latin America by maximizing content across devices. The session will provide insight into DIRECTV's strategy for growing its video entertainment business in the context of an increasingly mobile marketplace.
NAB also announced today that Saleha Williams of Clarity Creative will serve as producer for NAB Show Collaborative, developing content and recruiting speakers for international events. Originally trained at the BBC London, she has over 25 years experience working with broadcasters and other industry leaders in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. She has interviewed over 120 industry leaders and produced international industry award shows.
"I am delighted to join the NAB Show Collaborative team in taking the program to the next level by producing compelling and informative educational content for digital media and entertainment professionals around the globe," Williams said. "Working strategically with SET and other international event organizers enables NAB Show to reach broader audiences and further the show's position as a global leader."
