MPEG Broadcast Contribution Encoders Set to Reach More Than US$ 320 Mil. in 2017

Scottsdale, Ariz., January 15, 2014--Contribution encoders are used to compress the video and audio stream coming from the camera, truck or venue before it is transmitted to the studio. Contribution encoders are also used for compressing the stream as it is moved between studios. A new report by MRG forecasts that that this segment of the market will reach about US$ 320 million based on more than 20,000 units in 2017. 

56% of US Consumers Would Buy UHD TV in Next Two Years

Las Vegas, Nev., January 11, 2014- Strategy Analytics’ new ConsumerMetrix survey carried out over the past few weeks with 2,024 US consumers found very strong interest in UHD TV.  19 percent of people said they would be very likely to buy a UHDTV and 37 percent somewhat likely within the next two years.  Only 24 percent said they would be unlikely to buy one.

Over 103 million U.S. Households will Subscribe to Pay-TV services by end of 2014

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 9, 2014-The U.S. will have over 103 million pay-TV households by the end of 2014, with two-thirds of pay-TV subscribers expressing interest in features they currently do not have, according to new research announced at CES today by Parks Associates.

IHS Updates UHD TV Forecast

Las Vegas, Nev.,  January 7, 2014--In light of swift reductions in pricing, IHS has boosted its forecast for UHD liquid-crystal display (LCD) television sets. IHS now predicts 38.5 million UHD LCD TV sets will ship in 2018, up from 1.5 million in 2013, according to the TV Systems Intelligence Service at IHS released at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.
