2011 Broadband Growth The Fastest in Five Years

London, UK, March 21, 2012--Broadband and IPTV growth spiked to a high in 2011 with rates higher than at any time in the last five years, according to year-end figures published by the Broadband Forum. Overall, broadband growth is estimated at 65,493,596 lines, bringing the global total to 597,322,636, a quarterly increase of 2.6% - and an annual growth rate of 12.3%. The figures, prepared for the Broadband Forum by broadband industry analysts Point Topic, also highlight the strongest ever quarter of growth in IPTV which is today’s most demandingapplication for high speed broadband.

100 Million Households Will Be Using Hybrid Services by 2016

Global IPTV Subscribers Will Grow From 53 Million In 2011 To 105.1 Million in 2015

Global Fixed Broadband Revenue Expected to Generate $191 Billion in 2012

Singapore, February 9, 2012--Strong growth in both subscription and service revenue propelled the global fixed broadband market during 2011. Significant subscriber additions last year were made by all fixed platforms: DSL, cable, and optical fiber. In some countries with a high penetration of DSL broadband service, the DSL subscriber base declined slightly, but it was offset by the growth in optical fiber subscriptions, acording to ABI Research.

In-Flight Broadband Deployments to Surpass 6,100 Planes in 2015

Sydney, Australia, February 7, 2012--A new study released  by Telsyte confirms the rise of subscription TV over broadband with more than 300,000 Australian homes now accessing an IPTV service. This equates to around one in ten subscription TV services currently delivered over broadband.Telsyte forecasts that by 2015, over one third of all subscription TV services will be provided over broadband.
