4K Internet TV & Video Content to be Viewed by 1 in 10 US Residents by 2021

Hampshire, UK,  August 16, 2016: New data from Juniper Research has found that 4K OTT (Over the Top) content will finally see mass-market appeal, with adoption set to soar over the next 5 years. Juniper’s latest research, Digital TV & Video: Network and OTT Strategies 2016-2021, found that 4K OTT services will attract over 189 million unique users globally by 2021, up from just 2.3 million this year, driven by greater content availability and compatible devices.

Top US Pay-TV Providers Had More Net Losses in 2Q 2016 Than in any Previous Quarter

Durham, New Hampshire, August 15, 2016--Leichtman Research Group, Inc. (LRG) found that the eleven largest pay-TV providers in the US -- representing about 95% of the market -- lost about 665,000 net video subscribers in 2Q 2016, compared to a loss of about 545,000 subscribers in 2Q 2015.

854 Free to Air Satellite Channels Broadcast in the MENA Region

Amman, Jordan, August 8, 2016--The number of FTA satellite channels in the Arab World reached 854 channels by May 2016. The 854 analyzed channels broadcast on Arabsat, Nilesat, Noorsat and Yahlive (fully operational channels reached 821). The majority of the analyzed FTA satellite channels broadcast in Standard Definition (SD), while 2.1% broadcast in High Definition (HD).  

Nine Operators Dominate MEA Pay TV

London, UK, August 2, 2016--Pay TV subscriptions in the Middle East & Africa region will increase by 67% between 2015 and 2021 – from 32.37 million to 54.09 million. The top nine pay TV operators [Multichoice (DStv and GOtv), StarTimes/StarSat, Canal Plus, OSN, beIN, DigiTurk, D-Smart, Yes and HOT], accounted for 70% of these subscribers by end-2015, with this proportion falling to 66% by 2021. So nine companies will continue to control more than two-thirds of the region’s pay TV subscribers, according to the Middle East & Africa Pay TV Operator Forecasts report.
