(iRocket), a next-generation reusable space rocket developer, and BPGC Acquisition Corp., a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) sponsored by Wilbur Ross, the 39th U.S. Secretary of Commerce with more than 55 years of private equity and investment banking experience, and BPGC Management LP, an independent private equity firm dedicated to opportunistic buyouts and special situations transactions in the global industrials, materials and chemicals sectors, jointly announced today that they have entered into a definitive Merger Agreement and Plan of Merger dated July 22, 2025 in connection with the previously-announced letter of intent.

SES, today announced the completion of its  acquisition of Intelsat, creating a strengthened global satellite operator with an expanded fleet of 120 satellites across two orbits. The newly combined company will leverage its skilled teams with deep vertical expertise to deliver integrated multi-orbit, multi-band satellite and connectivity solutions to businesses and governments around the world, creating a stronger multi-orbit operator with ~60% of revenue in high-growth segments accordingto a company statement.

Pressure on teleport operators’ traditional business model continues to grow, driven by the rapid expansion of low-latency services delivered by low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations. Led by Starlink, the LEO operators are cutting into the mobility and broadband markets that geostationary (GEO) operators have relied on amid the decline of their broadcast business. In turn, this has squeezed the teleports, which traditionally have provided uplink and downlink services for the GEO operators.
