TV Everywhere Dominates as Viewers Demand Content on Tablets, Smartphones and Other Devices

Mountain View, Calif., Oct. 24, 2013--Video consumption across non-traditional devices such as tablets, smartphones, PCs and connected PCs evolved exponentially into a global phenomenon that is not restricted to a geographic area or a limited number of service providers.  With cable TV service providers offering more applications and interactive content, the rising adoption of IP by broadcasters and video service providers, and the growing consolidation among operators, the global IP video network management market benefited greatly, forecasted to reach US$ 442.4 million in 2017, from US$ 217.8 million in 2012.

International Channels to earn US$ 5.5 billion by 2018

London, UK, October 24, 2013--Viacom (US$749 million) will reap the highest revenues of any international channel  group in Europe in 2013, according to a new report from Digital TV Research.  Covering 225 international channels/networks from 11 groups, the TV Channel  Revenues in Europe report estimates that Viacom will be followed by Eurosport (US$ 651 million) and Discovery (US $620 million). 

Connectable Devices Crucial to Service Provider Success

4K TV: A Technology Push or a Demand Pull?

London, UK, Spetember 6, 2013-- At IBC this year, 53 of the approximately 1400 exhibitors claim to be showing something to do with 4K.  My guess is that the number is actually higher as many companies don’t list everything that they will be demonstrating in advance.  So does this mean that 4K is destined to become a commercial reality?

Spacecom Expands into New Markets in Asia with the Successful Launch of AMOS-4

Baikonur, Kazakhstan, September 1, 2013 –AMOS-4, built by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for Spacecom, was successfully launched August 31, 2013 from Baikonur Cosmodrome aboard a ZENIT - 3SLB launcher. During the coming three weeks, AMOS-4 will continue its transfer orbit until arriving at 67.250 East, where In Orbit Test will be conducted before continuing to its designated permanent service location at 650 East.

 

EUTELSAT 25B/Es'hail 1 satellite Successfully Launched

Kourou, French Guiana August 29, 2013--Eutelsat Communications  and Es'hailSat announce that their jointly owned EUTELSAT 25B/Es'hail 1 satellite was successfully launched tonight by an Ariane 5 rocket and is on course for geostationary orbit. Lift-off of the Ariane rocket carrying the 6.3 tonne satellite took place at 20.30 UTC. EUTELSAT 25B/Es'hail 1's solar panels were deployed within four hours of separation from the launch vehicle and preparations are underway for the first of four firings of its apogee motor to complete its journey into orbit. Eutelsat and Es'hailSat schedule to bring their jointly owned satellite into service at 25.5° East at the end of October.
