Western European Pay TV Revenues to Fall by $5 billion

London, U.K. March 13, 2023 - Western European pay TV revenues will decline by nearly US$ 5 billion between 2022 and 2028 to US$ 22 billion – down by 18%. The pay TV subscriber count will drop by 7%, so revenues will fall faster – revealing lower TV ARPUs and less emphasis on TV from the operators.

Capacity Pricing Continues to Decrease in line with the expansion of HTS Supply and Services

Paris, France, February 23, 2023  - In their latest edition of the FSS Capacity Pricing Trends report, Euroconsult reported that fixed-satellite service (FSS) capacity pricing is decreasing at a rapid rate due to services supported by next-generation geostationary (GEO) and non-geostationary orbit (NGSO) HTS systems such as Starlink undercutting the market. At the highest industry level, FSS capacity pricing continued to erode in 2022, as the global volume of leased and used capacity increased at a rate that far outpaced the growth in satellite operator revenues.

MENA OTT Revenues to Double

London, UK, February 15, 2023 - Middle East & North Africa OTT TV episodes and movies will generate US$ 5.69 billion by 2028; double from US$ 2.83 billion in 2022. Turkey, Israel and Saudi Arabia together will account for 55% of the region’s revenues by 2028. The 13 Arabic-speaking countries will generate US$ 2.47 billion in 2028; up from US$1.28 billion in 2022 according to Digital TV Research.

Africa to Add 9 Million SVOD Subscriptions

London, UK, February 12, 2023 - Africa will have 15.57 million paying SVOD subscriptions by 2028, up from 6.15 million at end-2022. Despite this fast growth, SVOD penetration rates will remain low, with only 7% of TV households paying for at least one subscription by 2028 –up from 4% at end-2022 according to Digital TV Research.
