North America to add 5 mil. Pay TV Subscribers

London, UK, March 20, 2014--Despite all of the talk about cord-cutting, a new report from Digital TV Research  forecasts that the number of pay TV subscribers in North America will continue to  increase – despite a small decline in 2013. The Digital TV North America report  estimates that nearly 5 million more subscribers will be added between 2013 and  2020. However, pay TV penetration will drop from 87.0% in 2010 to 83.8% by  2020. 

Multichannel Video Subscription Count Drops by a Quarter Million in 2013

Monterey, Calif., March 19, 2014– The U.S. multichannel segment posted its first full-year decline in subscriptions, according to SNL Kagan estimates for cable, DBS and telco offerings at the end of 2013. While seasonally driven quarterly declines have become routine for industry watchers, the annual dip illustrates longer-term downward pressure even as economic conditions gradually improve.
