MSS Operators Generated Revenues of US$ 1.5 Billion in 2012

Paris, France, August 27, 2013 – Euroconsult announced the latest findings of the Mobile Satellite Service industry in the 4th edition of their research report, "Mobile Satellite Communications Markets Survey: Prospects to 2022." According to the report, the active MSS terminal base grew at a CAGR of 10% over the past five years with over 2.9 million active MSS terminals deployed on a global basis in 2012. Revenues generated by the six active MSS operators stood at around $1.5 billion in 2012. The industry remains very concentrated with the leading three operators, Inmarsat, Iridium and Thuraya still accounting for close to 90% and Inmarsat alone having a market share of 55%.

Amid Strong Competition Smart Set-top Boxes Continue to Grow

Major Multi-Channel Video Providers Lost About 345,000 Subscribers in 2Q 2013

(LRG) found that the thirteen largest multi-channel video providers in the US -- representing about 94% of the market -- lost about 345,000 net additional video subscribers in 2Q 2013. 86% of U.S. Households Subscribe to some form of Multi-channel Video Service.

Durham, NHAugust 8, 2013 -- New consumer research from Leichtman Research Group, Inc. (LRG) finds that 86% of households nationwide subscribe to some form of multi-channel video service. While major multi-channel video providers reported a cumulative increase of less than 1% of subscribers over the past three years, penetration has slightly declined over that time due to a larger increase in the number of rental housing units. Multi-channel video penetration essentially peaked at 88% in 2010 following the digital transition, having increased from 82% in 2005.

Emerging Space Program Investments Reach US$ 1.8 billion in 2013

Paris, France, August 6, 2013 – Euroconsult released today its new executive brief, Trends & Prospects for Emerging Space Programs, which benchmarks projects, development models, lessons learned and perspectives of countries starting their first or second generation satellite programs. Of the 29 countries assessed in the report, 27 have begun investing in a space program for a total value estimated at $1.8 billion in 2013, including $1.4 billion related to satellite procurement. Only 7% of U.S. TV Households Rely on Over-the-Air Signals, According to CEA Study

Arlington, Va., July 30, 2013-– New research released today from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) ® found that just seven percent of American TV households rely solely on an antenna for their television programming. The findings of the new study, U.S. Household Television Usage Update, are consistent with CEA’s 2010 research which found eight percent of TV households reported using an antenna only for television programming.
